Legal obligation
- Textile products are labelled or marked to indicate their fibre composition when made available on the market. Labelling and marking are durable, easily legible, visible and accessible; a label is securely attached (Art. 14(1)).
- The description of the fibre composition appears in catalogues, brochures, on packaging, labels and markings in an easily legible, visible and clearly recognisable way, in a uniform font size, style and typeface. Consumers see it before purchase, also where the purchase is made electronically (Art. 16(1)).
- Labelling is in the official language or languages of the Member State in which the product is made available to the consumer, unless that Member State provides otherwise (Art. 16(3)).
- Art. 14(1) requires a label or marking on the textile product. The text of the Regulation does not provide for a purely digital indication of the fibre composition in its place.
